Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Hi my name is Orpheus. My friends call me Orp. I am one very confused boy! I had this family to call my very own for three whole years. Then one day we went for a car ride to Sheetz cuz I just love riding in the car. Before I knew what was happening though I was in a strange car with this crazy woman who was going around calling herself my foster mommy. She was really nice though and kept saying in a soothing voice that she was here to find me a 'fur'ever home. Can anyone tell me what that means? I am just sooooo confused. I have to say this foster home though is pretty cool. There are so many fur brothers and sisters to play with and I love to play and box cuz hey I'm part boxer you know. I have to say though I really like the females in my foster home but it is an adjustment to have all these men around me. I am just a little scared as there was a man in my past who was not so kind an always wore a baseball cap so I am a little leery. My ideal 'fur'ever family would have a nice fenced yard with another dog, my mommy or daddy working from home or at least only leaving me alone for a short time and some kids to play with me. Oh and a runner in the family would be nice. I am told I am just the ideal jogging partner. Please if you know anybody that could hook me up send them my way pretty please!
Please meet this sweet boy because you’ll fall in love with him when you do. Orpheus wants all the love and cuddles you can give him. He just wants to be by your side to protect you from anything. He has been a blessing in our family for around four years and truly cherished. We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to have children but we’re blessed with a daughter and now that she’s mobile, it has completely stressed Orpheus out. He does great with other dogs if he gets a chance to get used to them. He just needs a home where there isn’t the unpredictability of a toddler. We aren’t able to give him what he currently needs and we’re terribly heartbroken and torn about our decision. Despite being a little older, he is in great health. We supported him through extensive dental surgery and haven’t had any other medical issues.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
