Here is her story: UPDATE- 2/12/17 - We were hoping that today would bring answers but it has instead brought the need for more testing. Angelica was tested for Cushings Disease but the test was inconclusive. The vet would like to run another test in hopes of finding answers but the cost is $230 and we have already spent over $650. We find ourselves at a crossroads...do we spend more and try to determine the root of her problems or keep her comfortable and hope that an adopter or rescue steps up to help her? She is only 3-4 years old and she deserves the best chance at a happy life!* This is Angelica! She was brought in as a stray to Ritchie County Humane Society yesterday. She was an absolute mess! Her right ear was severely mangled and just barely hanging on. She was FILTHY and matted and missing lots of fur. And what broke my heart the most was seeing the tears running down her face. Mom (Judy M. Watson) quickly went to work cleaning her up. After she was “clean”, we called the Parkersburg Veterinary Hospital Inc. and they worked her in. Rhonda Eakle and Austin loaded her up (along with a sick kitty) and off they went with their big hearts to the vet. Once at the vet, they removed part of her ear and found that she has a heart murmur. They believe the hair loss may be related to a thyroid issue. Her treatment and recovery is not completely known at this time but it’s going to be expensive nonetheless. One of the loving vet techs invited Angelica into her home so she could give personal care. She will go back to the vet tomorrow for more testing. This sweet little Pom mix is only 3-4 years old 2/26/2018 - Angelica is now with 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue and we will love her back to health! Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs.
